From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
