Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
Both players swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to create a decider.
He defended 4 early break points in a close third set before the champion secured a break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
